Stratford-upon-Avon

On Saturday I joined the International Society's day trip to Stratford-upon-Avon to visit da Bard and his ladyfriend. Upon arrival we were greeted with a pretty flowerbeds, historic houses, people enjoying the sunshine by the river and a statue of Lady Macbeth.

We walked a couple of kilometres along this strange path through the suburbs to visit Anne Hathaway's Cottage at Shottery. Parts of the house are from the mid-15th Century and some of the furniture is originals that belonged to the Hathaways.

Back in town, we also visited Hall's Croft (owned by Dr John Hall, wife of Shakespeare's daughter Susanna) and New Place/Nash's Croft (owned by Thomas Nash, who married Shakespeare's granddaughter Elizabeth - his last direct descendent).

THEN we checked out Shakespeare's Birthplace!!! I literally ~walked in his footsteps~.

Exhausted and sweaty, we finished the day with an ice-cream bought from a boat and relaxed in the park. Then slept on the bus back to Manchester.

That night, I headed out with my flatmates to The Footage which has a giant screen to which you can SMS messages that are published for all to see. The insults were a-flyin'.
